Hello, guys! Today you could time travel legally with me. I wanna tell you about my experience of taking part in #changeclimatechange campaign. I suppose you all heard about Earth Hour that started in Sydney in 2007 as a citizen action to protest against climate change. And this is a minimal effort, that we can do for the Earth's sake!

Earth Hour is celebrated on the last Saturday of March every year. This year's celebration was on Saturday 19th March from 8.30 PM to 9.30 PM. Many landmarks all over the World turned off the lights that day. You can find out more information here:

According to WWF in Ukraine many cities got involved in celebrating, so Kyiv wasn't the only one. Let me sum up: 68 towns and cities, 19 public institutions, 38 companies, 46 organizations, 10 mass medias and 81 educational institutions without taking into account thousands people who turned out the lights at homes for a good cause.

This year I celebrated Earth Hour not at home, so yeah, I definitely saved some energy. We can't save much energy during one hour per year, but we can put the spotlight on the issue and inspire others by our actions, right? I decided to combine business with pleasure and visited a culinary master-class from executive chef Fabrizio Righetti at one well-known hotel in Kyiv. These hotels turn off their non-essential lights and other electrical appliances for one hour for the 8th time. And I'm proud to know that this hotel in my city was kinda trendsetter.

I was a little bit late, but lucky to have such a lovely couple as neighbors. Say hiiiiiiiii to Denis & Ruslana. It was sweet of them to help me make up leeway. Thank you so much. Oh, and also you can find me in the photo wearing the handmade turban 😍

This was my workplace. First of all we prepared a light starter with salmon and red caviar.

If you want to prepare this at home, here's a recipe for you.

Ingredients:

3 thin crisps

Cream cheese "Philadelphia"

salmon pieces

vegetables slices

salad greens

caviar

balsamic sauce for decoration

1) Spoon the cream cheese onto each thin crisp (better use a kitchen sack), top the last one with the rest of the cream cheese and decorate with a caviar

2) place the salmon pieces on the plate

3) slice vegetables with a vegetable cutter and place them like you wanna

4) use balsamic sauce and your imagination for decoration and the full kaleidoscope of taste

Bon appetit!

Then we prepared a delicious supercalifragilisticexpialidocious dessert

Ingredients:

1 kiwi fruit, peeled and chopped

cottage cheese

whipped cream

muesli

honey

6 different nuts

3 dried apricots

ALSO one stainless steel cooking presentation ring and 2 spoons

1) chop 2 dried apricots into cubes and the last one into strips, then crush nuts

2)  take your muesli and pour over the honey and mix with a spoon, add nuts and cubed apricots

3) put the cooking presentation ring on the dish then place there 2/3 of the mix and press firmly into the base

4) mix cottage cheese with whipped cream, stir with another spoon then add it over the mix and press again

5) add chopped kiwi fruit and lightly press again

6) decorate with the leftover muesli mix + apricot strips if you want to.

Bon appetit!
All dishes we prepared without the use of electricity: no electric mixers and stoves. We used sun-dried nuts and apricots, *like...yeah, sure😝👌🏽*  Anyway you can see with you own eyes how to whip cream with icing sugar. Nothing is impossible to a willing heart.

Ok, here we go: there was live music...

...and candlelight

We were there approximately one hour longer than planned, that's why at 10 PM the lights were switched on.

The fire show in the end was a great surprise for us (btw I really worried about the presenter because he was like happy-go-lucky guy and accidentally burned his beard...ouch). I cannot do what he did, so It would be a bit silly to judge him on one poor reason. Anyway it was really amazing to watch.

Last, but not least impression: the conceptual mehndi dedicated to WWF.

 Meet my new friend!

All these little things created an unforgettable atmosphere. I certainly will set the tradition and tell friends. It was very interesting to see how the spontaneous idea turned into the interesting experience.

How was your Earth Hour? Comment below, please.

All the love,
Mira
